Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is facing parliamentary scrutiny over financial and management weaknesses, including a Shs193.4 billion tax liability, a sharp rise in trade receivables and procurement irregularities flagged by the Auditor General.
The Auditor General’s 2025 report said UEDCL’s trade receivables stood at Shs238.5 billion, about 40 times higher than the previous year, raising concerns over revenue collection and financial management.
