Parliament launches probe into digital number plate delays costing Shs4b weekly

The Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure has launched a comprehensive investigation into the crippling delays and administrative hurdles surrounding the issuance of digital number plates in Uganda, a crisis that lawmakers say is costing the country over Shs4 billion every week.

The fact-finding mission, led by committee chairperson and Mbarara City South Member of Parliament Mr Mwine Mpaka, commenced on Wednesday following a tide of formal complaints from key transport sector stakeholders urging Parliament to intervene.
