Bukedea Town Council councillors have taken over revenue collection at Bukedea cattle market after a company contracted to collect taxes on behalf of the district and town council failed to remit Shs216 million.
The decision followed the failure by Bukedea Orongat Vendors Cooperative Society Limited to clear the outstanding revenue by August 20, the deadline it had committed to meet.
Bukedea Chief Administrative Officer Andrew Milton Kamalingin said the cooperative had ceased to be the revenue collector after failing to meet its obligation.
