Egypt: Dollar Exchange Rate Stable at Start of Sunday’s Transactions

On January 21st, the dollar exchange rate remained stable at Egypt’s major banks at the start of Sunday’s transactions. The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) and Banque Misr recorded a dollar rate of LE 30.75 for buying and LE 30.85 for selling, while the Commercial International Bank (CIB) had rates of LE 30.85 for buying and LE 30.95 for selling. The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported that the average dollar rate in the Egyptian market was LE 30.82 for buying and LE 30.95 for selling.

In terms of the euro, Banque Misr and the NBE had rates of LE 33.41 for buying and LE 33.61 for selling, while the CIB had rates of LE 33.52 for buying and LE 33.73 for selling. The CBE reported an average euro rate of LE 33.56 for buying and LE 33.72 for selling.

For the pound sterling, the NBE and Banque Misr had rates of LE 38.93 for buying and LE 39.22 for selling, and the CIB had rates of LE 39.06 for buying and LE 39.34 for selling. The average pound sterling rate in the Egyptian market, according to the CBE, was LE 39.09 for buying and LE 39.27 for selling.

The Saudi riyal price at the NBE stood at LE 8.19 for buying and LE 8.22 for selling.

Overall, the dollar exchange rate was stable at the start of Sunday’s transactions at Egypt’s major banks. The rates for the euro, pound sterling, and Saudi riyal also remained within a relatively stable range. This stability reflects a consistent foreign exchange market in Egypt.
