47% voter turnout in the Senegalese presidential election recorded in Burkina Faso, according to CODEL
Ouagadougou, March 25 (Africa Links 24) – The Senegalese diaspora living in Burkina Faso recorded a 47% voter turnout in the presidential election organized on the 24th by Senegal, according to a report from the Convention of Civil Society Organizations for the Domestic Observation of Elections (CODEL).
1576 Senegalese living in Burkina Faso registered on the electoral list and voted in 5 polling stations opened in Ouagadougou, Koudougou, and Bobo-Dioulasso. “Out of these 1576, 745 individuals actually voted on election day, representing a voter turnout of 47%,” indicates a report from the Convention of Civil Society Organizations for the Domestic Observation of Elections.
CODEL, chaired by Me Halidou Ouédraogo, former magistrate and founder of the Burkinabe Movement for Human and Peoples’ Rights (MPDHP), deployed 17 independent observers distributed in three polling stations in Ouagadougou and one polling station each in Bobo-Dioulasso and Koudougou. The current Senegalese presidential election is to designate the replacement for Macky Sall.
According to trends, the candidate from the Pastef party, Bassirou Diomay Faye, is leading by a wide margin.
