The British Council has launched a £1 million ($1,260,000) grants programme to support the creation of new cultural collaborations between UK artists, arts professionals, and organisations with their peers around the world. The grant programme aims to foster new bilateral and multilateral partnerships and provide funding for organisations to create and develop creative artwork with international peers, as well as assist individual artists in finding innovative ways to collaborate. Grant amounts range between £25,000 and £75,000 and are currently open for application.
Applicants must demonstrate genuine international collaboration and show how their projects will benefit participating UK artists and organisations as well as their international partners. Projects can address any theme, and applicants are encouraged to incorporate diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability into their project delivery.
The British Council has also developed a package of resources to assist artists in their applications. More information on how to apply for the grants can be found on their website. The application deadline is 30 April.
Projects should include at least one UK-based organisation and one organisation based in one of the eligible countries, which include Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Bangladesh, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Cuba, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Montenegro, Mexico, Morocco, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, North Macedonia, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Serbia, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.
