Preliminary results from the 2024 census, released on June 27 by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (Ubos) show that Uganda has more women than men.
Not since the 10-yearly snapshot offered by the 1969 census have males outnumbered their female counterparts. In the aforesaid census, the first to be held during the postcolonial period, males (4.8 million) marginally eclipsed females (4.7 million).Â
