Kenyans now have the convenience of accessing information from Huduma centres simply by dialling a phone number. On Tuesday, Huduma Kenya announced the launch of a new contact centre number, 1919, which allows individuals to seek assistance and information with ease.
The Huduma Kenya program was established to streamline the provision of various government services through the integration of multiple public services under one roof known as the Huduma Centre. The first Huduma Center was inaugurated in Nairobi in 2013, with the aim of making it easier for Kenyans to access services such as driver’s licenses, national identity cards, and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
Last year, Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria commended the establishment of Huduma Centres and announced plans to expand the program to subcounty levels. This commitment was demonstrated on Monday as judiciary services went live in six pilot Huduma Centres in Nairobi and Kiambu, marking a new milestone for the program.
These judicial desks will offer a range of services including filing new civil cases, document filing for existing cases, requests for summonses, and court orders, among others. It was also announced that these services would be rolled out to all 52 centres across the country.
Furthermore, training for National Police Officers attached to all 52 Huduma Centres at the National Police College main campus-Kiganjo began on the same day. The training is aimed at improving customer service excellence and is part of the Huduma Kenya Customer Excellence training program.
Overall, the expansion of services and the implementation of new initiatives at Huduma Centres are a testament to the ongoing commitment to providing accessible and efficient public services to all Kenyans.
