Raila Odinga, the opposition chief, asserted on Tuesday that reports of a divided Azimio coalition are false, and contrary to media reports, the coalition is united. The former Prime Minister held a summit meeting at his Capitol Hill square offices, the first of the year, and all Azimio luminaries except Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who was in Sudan, attended.

Raila dismissed speculations of a split within Azimio as “trash” and “media propaganda,” emphasizing the unity of the coalition. He also mentioned that Kalonzo was out of the country but was aware of the meeting and had provided his input.

To demonstrate their unity, the opposition coalition is planning a major rally in Nairobi on Friday to address their supporters on the issue of the cost of living. The meeting on Tuesday was attended by various leaders including Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, George Wajackoya, Wycliffe Oparanya, Peter Munya, Jeremiah Kioni, Mwangi wa Iria, and Ndiritu Muriithi.

Recent reports suggested that the Azimio coalition was on the verge of disintegration, with disagreements over the bipartisan report and the absence of all Azimio principals at the memorial for Raila’s father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. This led to public clashes between Karua and Kalonzo, exposing tensions within the coalition.

However, Eugene Wamalwa alleged that the government has been attempting to cause disunity within the opposition, but the coalition has remained united to continue fighting for the people. Additionally, Azimio criticized the US for interfering in the internal affairs of Haiti, expressing support for the independence and professionalism of the Judiciary.

In conclusion, as the Azimio coalition continues to address internal and external challenges, its leaders are determined to maintain their unity and stand together as one front to fight for the people of Kenya.
