President William Ruto has emphasized the importance of all leaders working together to create job opportunities for the youth who are currently struggling to make a living. During a speech on Saturday, Ruto highlighted the fact that individuals in leadership positions and those who are employed are not inherently special, but rather fortunate. He stressed the need for them to consider the plight of those who are unemployed while they carry out their responsibilities.
Addressing the audience at the opening of the Mukiria TTI Tuition Block and Engineering Workshop and Launch of TVET Virtual Desktop Infrastructure Project in Meru County, Ruto urged individuals who are employed to view their positions as a privilege and to always keep in mind the millions of young people who have completed their education but are unable to find work.
Ruto emphasized that it is the duty of leaders to support government initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities for the jobless. He also called out those who have used the courts to hinder such projects, stating that it is unjust to obstruct efforts to provide jobs for those in need.
The President specifically mentioned the affordable housing project, which has faced challenges after a court ruling deemed the mandatory Housing levy unlawful. Ruto disclosed that the project had already generated over 130,000 jobs and was projected to employ at least 300,000 Kenyans by the end of 2024. He urged leaders to refrain from obstructing initiatives that could benefit individuals seeking employment.
In conclusion, Ruto emphasized the importance of leaders recognizing and addressing the issue of unemployment in the country. He called for unity and collaboration among leaders to ensure that job creation initiatives are supported and not impeded.
