President William Ruto arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday morning to attend the inauguration of President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi. The President is expected to meet his predecessor, Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who arrived in DRC on Friday for the same event. This will be the first time President Ruto and Former President Uhuru will share the same podium since the Kenya Kwanza regime came into power. Their last public appearance together was during the inauguration of President Ruto in Kasarani on September 13, 2022.

Tshisekedi will be sworn in at the Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa on Saturday. President-elect Tshisekedi won more than 70% of the total vote cast during the general elections, which took place in December 2023, securing his re-election for a second term. Former President Uhuru attended the event in his capacity as the Facilitator of the EAC-led Nairobi Peace Process and was accompanied by Uganda’s Vice President Jessica Alupo.
