Pastor Dorcas Rigathi recently concluded her three-day visit to Embu County with a visit to the Tenri Vocational Training Centre. During her visit, she took the time to tour the facility and address the students, offering words of encouragement and sharing her vision for the future.

Accompanied by Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, Deputy Governor Justus Mugo, Senator Alexander Mundigi, County MP Pamela Njoki, and the spouse of Mbeere South MP Catherine Muriuki, Pastor Dorcas emphasized the importance of the technical skills that the students are acquiring. She also shared her vision of dignifying the boy child and warned against indulging in alcohol and drug abuse.

Speaking to the students, she highlighted the importance of technical skills in today’s job market, stating that the demand for such skills is high. She also advocated for TVETs to play a prominent role in the rehabilitation and skilling of young men for employment, business, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Governor Cecily Mbarire echoed these sentiments, affirming the importance of vocational institutions in the economic growth of the nation. She encouraged the students to excel in their courses and strive to advance beyond the artisan level, as there are ample opportunities for skilled workers in various projects in the county.

Mbarire also shared plans for construction projects in the county, emphasizing the need for skilled workers in areas such as plumbing, tiling, and electrical work. She expressed confidence that the students, once properly trained, would be absorbed into these projects, contributing to the economic development of the region.

This visit to the Tenri Vocational Training Centre is part of Pastor Dorcas Rigathi’s wider initiative to partner with TVET institutions across Kenya to provide skill development opportunities for rehabilitated men. She has visited and engaged with other TVETs in different counties, emphasizing the importance of technical skills and vocational training.

Overall, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi’s visit to the Tenri Vocational Training Centre in Embu County served to highlight the significance of technical skills in today’s job market and the opportunity for young men to achieve economic independence through vocational training.
